Minimizing weighted total earliness, total tardiness and setup costs

چکیده
A single machine scheduling problem is described which covers earliness costs, tardiness costs and setup costs. Setups are needed whenever a switch is made to a job of another product family. All jobs within the same product family have the same processing time. Besides setup costs also setup times are involved. Idle time is allowed, preemption is not allowed. Both a mixed integer programming formulation and a Branch and Bound approach are presented which solve the problem optimally. Experimental results are given for a number of heuristic methods. 1 Faculty of Management and Organization, University of Groningen, P.O. box 800, 9700 AV, The Netherlands. Particle swarm optimization for minimizing total earliness/tardiness costs of two-stage assembly flowshop scheduling problem in a batched delivery system
This paper considers a two-stage assembly flow shop scheduling problem. When all parts of each product are completed in the first stage, they are assembled into a final product on an assembly machine in the second stage. In order to reduce the delivery cost, completed products can be held until completion of some other products to be delivered in a same batch. The proposed problem addresses sch...
متن کاملFuzzy Programming for Parallel Machines Scheduling: Minimizing Weighted Tardiness/Earliness and Flow Time through Genetic Algorithm
Appropriate scheduling and sequencing of tasks on machines is one of the basic and significant problems that a shop or a factory manager encounters; this is why in recent decades extensive studies have been done on scheduling issues. One type of scheduling problems is just-in-time (JIT) scheduling and in this area, motivated by JIT manufacturing, this study investigates a mathematical model for...
متن کاملA comparison of algorithms for minimizing the sum of earliness and tardiness in hybrid flow-shop scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines and sequence-dependent setup times
In this paper, the flow-shop scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines at each stage as well as sequence-dependent setup times under minimization of the sum of earliness and tardiness are studied. The processing times, setup times and due-dates are known in advance. To solve the problem, we introduce a hybrid memetic algorithm as well as a particle swarm optimization algorithm combine...
متن کاملA Possibility Linear Programming Approach to Solve a Fuzzy Single Machine Scheduling Problem
This paper employs an interactive possibility linear programming approach to solve a single machine scheduling problem with imprecise processing times, due dates, as well as earliness and tardiness penalties of jobs. The proposed approach is based on a strategy of minimizing the most possible value of the imprecise total costs, maximizing the possibility of obtaining a lower total costs, and mi...

The parallel machine scheduling problem is an important and difficult problem to be considered in the real-world situations. Traditionally, this problem consists of the scheduling of a set of independent jobs on parallel machines with the aim of minimizing the maximum job completion. In today's manufacturing systems, in which both early and tardy finishing of job processing are undesired, the o...
